Cleevillians Torbay Easter Festival Report for 2006

Returning from the 56th annual Torbay Easter Hockey Festival, Cleevillians Hockey Club,
with their youngest ever squad, chalked up 6 wins and only 1 defeat in their 7 matches.

FRIDAY

The squad, including 5 father and son combinations, received their only defeat on Good Friday morning at the hands
of  Midwives (Old Midwhitgiftians HC) at Dawlish 5 goals to 3. After being 3-0 down at half time, goals from Vince Clark,
Mike Cullimore & Martin Halls brought it back to 3-3 but the Midwives scored 2 late goals to win.

The afternoon match at Teignmouth saw a comfortable 3-1 win over Guanos form Seale Hayne with Graham Coates, Ben Link & Clark scoring.

SATURDAY

Saturday’s matches at Clennon Valley, Paignton, both ended 5-0 with Clark (2), Tom Goddind (2) and Mike Cullimore scoring over
Old Gobblers (East Devon HC) and Shaun Flanagan (2), Ben Link, Martin Halls & Rob Cullimore seeing off the Bluebottles ( Westbury HC ).

SUNDAY

Easter Sunday was the best of the matches v Wolves (Wolverhampton HC) at Torquay Girls Grammar school ending
in a 5-2 victory, this after coming from 2-1 down with Halls (2), Godding, Coates and Scott McIlquham netting.

MONDAY

Easter Monday at Clennon saw the goalscoring continue with a 5-0 win over Torreadors (Torbay HC), Godding, S.McIlquham,
John Cullimore, Coates & Clark bagging the goals from a game which began with the Cleevillians average age under 18.

The festival was completed with an 8-2 goal rout over Hornets (ECV Hornets HC Exeter) in which Rob Link, Scott McIlquham,
 Chris Pierce (2), Barnaby Wakeford, Toby Flanagan, Clark & Rob Cullimore completed an outstanding festival for the Cleevillians.

AWARDS

At the traditional club dinner on Easter Sunday the festival trophies were awarded.

Ben Link & Barnaby Wakeford received their club colours for their debut festivals.

The Attitude Award went to Graham Coates.

The Torbay Tornado was Shaun Flanagan.

The Alf Appleton social award went to Barnaby Wakeford.

The Gnome award was presented to Mike Pierce.
