Cleevillains 4
Stroud 0

“Lets end our 5 game losing streak against Stroud
today boys” were the words of wisdom given by captain Rob Link, and
they certainly did! Stroud would have been happy that it was only 4-0
and not 8. The first goal came very soon into the first half from an
audacious dribble from Martin Halls to place the ball sweetly for Tom
North to weep into the bottom right hand corner.
Cleevillians worked hard and it wasn’t long before
the score was doubled by Toby Flannagan, again, with a well worked
goal.
Vince Clark soon got a piece of the action as he
always does with 2 goals that came before half time, with both assists
coming from Ben Link who has been an important ingredient in clinching
games for Cleevillians despite his injury, with the many short corners
Cleevillians obtained it was only Link’s passes that resulted in
clinical goals. In the second half the Stroud keeper made numerous
saves to keep his team in the game, but with a strong defensive and a
hard working midfield Cleevillians cruised to their 11th win of the
season.
With the game being won in midfield the man of the
match award was tough to decide and it was not a surprise that it ended
up in a 3 way tie between Ben Link, Toby Flannagan and Stuart Skinner.
Goal Scorer’s: Vince Clark 2, Toby Flannagan 1 and Tom North 1.
MOM: Stuart Skinner, Toby Flannagan and Ben Link
