Cleevillains 4
Cheltenham 3
06/12/2008
In a tough contested match both sides
would feel that a win could have gone either way, but it was Cheltenham
who started the stronger of the two sides, firing a ball low into the
corner giving Chris Smallwood not a fighting chance to save it.
However, Villains struck back within 10 minutes to level the game at
1-1.
Cheltenham kept going ahead only to be held back with Villains
responding almost instantaneously each time, Martin Halls and Sean
Flannagan contributing to the score board. Cheltenham fought hard and a
goal was beckoning, but with Villains placing players behind the ball
it was hard to place the ball into the desired spots, Mark Johns
placing himself in key positions constantly. At 3-3 Cheltenham were
piling on the pressure, they were awarded a short corner that was
dragged flick high towards the goal – only to be denied by Chris
Smallwood. With 10 minutes to go Villains were given a short
corner and a nice pass from Ben Link set up Vince Clark who fired the
ball in the top of the net!
MOM: Mark Johns
Goal Scorers: Vince Clark 2, Martin Halls 1 and Sean Flannagan 1
