Cleevillians

Cirencester B 0
Cleevillians returned to
the top of
the Hereford and Gloucester League 1 following an emphatic win against
Cirencester. Sean Flanagan opened the
scoring after 7 minutes, slotting the ball underneath the keeper
following a
well worked short corner. Two minutes
later, his brother Toby made a tackle inside his own half before
carrying the
ball to the edge of the circle and then finding Vince Clark who drove
the ball
past the Cirencester keeper.
Cirencester were unlucky not to pull a goal back when a fine
shot was
well saved by "Big C" in the Cleevillians goal, but this turned out
to be the only real shot that the opposition made in the whole game.
Vince Clark completed a
first half hat-trick
with 2 further goals, either side of one from Tom North, with all 3
goals
coming from short corners. Cleevillians
then went 7-0 up before half time when Ben Link took the ball from
inside his
own half, drove past 2 players and into the opposition's D, before
presenting
Vince Clark with a simple tap in.
Cleevillians started the
second half
in much the same vein, scoring 10 minutes into the half following a
great run
down the right by Vince Clark who unselfishly laid the ball off to Tom
North to
tap into an empty net. 5 minutes later
Vince Clark was desperately unlucky not to score when he dribbled
around a
number of players in the penalty area before launching a reverse stick
lob
which hit the bar. Scott Mcilquham was
the first to react and converted yet another tap in.
Minutes later Vince Clark was rewarded with his 5th goal of the
match, when he ran onto a pass from Stuart Skinner and stroked the ball
past
the advancing keeper. Moments later
Cirencester lost their keeper to injury and this seemed to spur them on
and
their determination was rewarded when they managed to prevent
Cleevillians from
adding to their score for the remaining 15 minutes.
