Wotton-Under-Edge
1 Cleevillians 11
Cleevillians
maintained their 100% start to the
season with an energetic and clinical victory over Wotton-Under-Edge. Having scored 8 goals in each of their last
2 friendly games, Cleevillians notched an impressive 11 goals and were
6-0 up
by half time against their Hereford & Gloucester League 1 opponents. Vince Clark scored a hat-trick within the
first 15 minutes (including a penalty) and a further 2 goals in the
second
half, but much of the Cleevillians success was down to Martin Halls on
the left
hand side and Ben Link on the right, who troubled the opposition with
their
pace and skill.
Martin
Halls with a measured lob and then Tom North
and Ade Barratt finished off the scoring in the first half and but for
a superb
performance by the Wotton keeper, Cleevillians could easily have
doubled their
scoring.
The
first 15 minutes of the second half was much more
even, with the Wotton youngsters picking up their game. However, when
Tom North
scored the seventh goal, Cleevillians once again took control, with Tom
North
completing his hat-trick to make it 10-0.
Wooton then scored a good goal in open play before Jack Chandler
finished off the scoring with 5 minutes to go.
Cleevillians
were encouraged that they managed to
score 4 of their goals from well rehearsed short corners.
