Match Report for Sat 25th Oct 2008

Cleevillians 3  Hereford 2

Cleevillians beat a well organised ten man Hereford team to maintain 2nd spot in the Hereford & Gloucester League 1.  Tom North missed a great opportunity to open the scoring early on in the game when he dragged his shot wide.  The Hereford goalkeeper then made a number of excellent saves to deny in-form Vince Clark from adding to his season’s tally.  Despite creating far more chances, it was Hereford who went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Within 5 minutes of the restart, Tom North scored the equaliser from a short corner, with the ball only just creeping over the goal line.  Cleevillians took the lead shortly after when Scott Mcilquham converted from yet another short corner.

Hereford then came back into the game by improving their possession rate and scored a wonderful equaliser when a driven free hit was deflected into the roof of the net.  Cleevillians restored their lead with 5 minutes remaining when Stuart Skinner slapped the ball high towards goal which Vince Clark was able to deflect into the goal.  For the third game running Toby Flanagan was man of the match.
