Cleevillians

Glos City 1
Cleevillians remain top
of the
Hereford & Gloucester League 1 following a fine win and performance
against
a determined Glos City side.
The home side started
well with
Vince Clark setting up a good chance after 12 minutes which was placed
narrowly
wide by Sean Flanagan. There was a more
favourable outcome a couple of minutes later, when Clark this time put
Scott
Mcilquham through on goal and his control and shot was too good for the
Glos City
keeper.
A smart free hit by Sean
Flanagan 5
minutes later was flicked in by a lively Tom North for his 29th
goal
of the season.
Following a shot by Jake
Windsor
that was well saved by the Glos City keeper, Vince Clark scored the
first of
yet another hat-trick, after Tom North had intercepted a pass in
midfield and
laid the ball onto Martin Halls.
Vince Clark added another
goal
following a short corner to give Cleevillians a 4-0 lead at half time.
The interval suited Glos
City
better, since they came out with greater determination and put
Cleevillians
under significant pressure for a good 10 minutes. However
from a quick break out of defence, Vince Clark completed
his hat-trick following a neat interchange of passes in midfield.
Almost from the restart,
Glos City
managed to scramble the ball over the line after Chris Smallwood had
made an
initial save. Cleevillians
re-established the 5 goal difference, when Tom North scored his second
goal of
the game with a superb individual effort.
