Match Report for Sat 4th Oct 08

Stroud 2  Cleevillians 1

In a close fought encounter, Cleevillians edged the possession and created the most chances, yet ended up losing to a good Stroud side.  Cleevillians started well with Toby Flanagan, Ben Link and Ade Barratt controlling the midfield before Stroud took the lead 15 minutes before half time.  The goal inspired Stroud to take control of the game until half time.  After the break Cleevillians created a number of chances and were awarded a series of short corners, however it was from open play that Vince Clark scored a deserved equaliser, his tenth goal in 3 games.

Tom North who looked dangerous going forward was forced to retire hurt after sustaining a number of separate injuries.  Scott Mcilquham was also carried off after taking a painful blow to the knee.  These forced changes affected the balance of the team and Stroud were able to score the winner with 10 minutes remaining on the clock.
